The project was implemented by the NGO “Know Your Dream” named after Stepan Tarabalk, in collaboration with the Pyadytsia territorial hromada. The spatial mentor is Olena Dovgopolova, an architect and founder of INAKSHI architects. The programme mentor is Illia Dmytryshyn, a mentor supporting military personnel at the UNBROKEN rehabilitation centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The space was created as part of Community reBuilding<\/a> \u2014 a project to develop community-building centres run by Cedos and UMAEF.<\/p>\n\n\n\t

The opening programme featured a range of activities: competitions for young people, art therapy, board games and sporting activities. The event demonstrated that the community-building centre is open to everyone \u2014 veterans, military families, internally displaced people, and local residents. People can find support and companionship here, or offer help to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Community-Building Centre<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A space for shared leisure activities has been opened at the “Teplo krylatoi dushi” wellness centre, founded by Nataliia Tarabalko \u2014 the mother of the late pilot and Hero of Ukraine, Stepan Tarabalko. The centre provides rehabilitation for male and female veterans, as well as their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre is housed in a former manor house \u2014 a two-storey building set in over a hectare of parkland. The central hall, previously used as an entrance hall, was chosen as the location for the community centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The large hall is a multifunctional space, the heart of the hromada. Its main purpose is to host events that bring people together. The space has two separate levels. The first level is easily adaptable: it can serve as an open venue for events, a space for workshops or a relaxation area. If required, it can be partitioned off with curtains to create more intimate areas. During events, the second level becomes a space for teenagers, young people and children, whilst in its spare time it serves as a quiet place to relax amidst the greenery.<\/em><\/p>\nOlena Dovgopolova, architect and founder of INAKSHI architects. During the renovation of the hall, the project team preserved part of the original brickwork. They also created a panel using tiles from the estate \u2014 here, visitors to the space can leave their wishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessibility requirements for the physical environment were also taken into account: the doorways to the rooms were widened, and the adjoining room was converted into an accessible toilet. In addition, work has begun on creating a living space for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\t

The community-building centre as a place for the social rehabilitation of veterans<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside physical rehabilitation, the health centre places significant emphasis on the social adaptation of veterans. Cultural, educational and therapeutic activities are held in the community-building space, which serves as the centre\u2019s main room. Children and students come here for informal get-togethers with military personnel and veterans \u2014 they chat, spend time together, and take part in workshops and discussions. According to the project team, this room was never empty even before the refurbishment, and has become even livelier since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is more than just a project. It is about trust, collaboration and recovery through collective action. The Community-Building Centre in Tseniava is a place where nature, human support and faith in the future come together to create something new.
