In November 2024, Cedos launched the project ‘Enhancing Education Resilience in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia through knowledge and evidence dissemination’. The project will last for two years and is part of a wider initiative: The Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) Observatory on Education System Resilience, supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

As part of the project, the Cedos team will conduct a study examining the sustainability of education systems in eight countries:

  • Ukraine
  • Moldova
  • Georgia
  • Albania
  • Mongolia
  • Uzbekistan
  • Tajikistan
  • Kyrgyzstan

The project aims to establish how sustainability in secondary education is defined in these countries, and what the biggest challenges to it are. As part of the project, the Cedos team will also attempt to predict future threats to education in several countries in the region.

The research conducted as part of this project will help stakeholders in education systems across Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia to improve policies to better address current and future challenges. A key objective of the project is to ensure that all children, including girls and those from vulnerable groups, have access to secondary education.
