We invite you to the introductory online event of the Ukrainian Urban Forum 2023.

During this online event, we will discuss progressive housing policies and solutions implemented in cities in Germany and Switzerland. We will focus on the experience of these countries because Leipzig and Zurich are actively cooperating with Vinnytsia, which will host this year's Ukrainian Urban Forum 2023. In addition, we will discuss the Austrian model of affordable housing and solutions that may be useful for Ukrainian cities.

Speakers:

  • Felix Volgmann, urban planner and co-owner, Bürogemeinschaft Gauly & Volgmann (Leipzig). Felix will talk about how to create vibrant and inclusive neighbourhoods and how urban development contracts are used in Germany.
  • Lars Karbe, director of reconstruction, OneUkraine (Berlin). Lars will talk about the role of cities in implementing progressive housing policies.
  • Jennifer Duyne, the executive director of ETH Wohnforum (Zürich); Jennifer will focus on the benefits and challenges of developing the cooperative movement.
  • Jonathan Kischkel, former president of the Cooperative Kalkbreite (Zürich). Jonathan will share his experience in organising the work of housing cooperatives and talk about the relations between municipality and cooperatives.
  • Nazar Kovalenko, Institute for urban development (Vinnytsia). Nazar will talk about Vinnytsia's experience in housing policy and implementation of the affordable housing programme.
