Ivan Verbytskyi

Cedos director (2019-2024), Cedos analyst (2014-2025)

From 2019 to 2024, he was the Director of Cedos. In this position, he worked on expanding the organisation's work in the areas of local development, culture, social and housing policies. In 2024, the "Community reBuilding" project, dedicated to supporting the development of community centres in small communities, which Cedos implemented in partnership with UMAEF, became the winner of the New European Bauhaus Prize.

From 2014 to 2025, he was part of the Cedos team as an analyst, expert and project manager. He worked on research on urban development and local governance, civil society and civic participation, housing policy and social issues. In particular, he participated in the study of the potential of community building in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv, research on public participation in decision-making by Kyiv city authorities, and research on the role of humanitarian organisations in the development of local housing programs. He was the author of the idea and curator of the study of the thoughts, experiences and actions of Ukrainian society during a full-scale invasion.

From 2015 to 2019, he was the editor and head of the Ukrainian urban platform Mistosite, and from 2018 to 2019, he was the project manager and curator of the Ukrainian Urban Forum.

He represented Cedos as a national expert for Council of Europe projects in Ukraine, as well as a member of the group of consultants for the development of the Integrated Urban Development Concept of the Podilskyi District in Kyiv. During the 2014 revolution, he worked in the "Guard in the Hospital" ("Varta v Likarni") initiative. In 2015-2016, he was a student representative in the Academic Council of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and in 2021, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the March for Kyiv ("Marsh za Kyiv").
