Anastasiia Bobrova has been appointed as Director of Cedos. The Supervisory Board approved her appointment.
Anastasiia joined the Cedos team in 2018. She has experience in project management and research coordination. Since 2020, she has been the curator of the Ukrainian Urban Forum. She is also co-author of the podcast on equitable urban development, “Will the Market Decide?”.
Her research interests include housing policy, urban development and social protection:
- she is the author of an analytical note with an overview of trends and changes that have taken place in the housing sector of Ukraine since February 2022;
- co-authored a research on the system of social and temporary housing in Ukraine;
- after the start of the full-scale invasion, she worked on five waves of research on people’s experiences of the war and monitoring the impact of the war on housing in Ukraine;
- during the COVID-19 pandemic, she studied problems in the Ukrainian social protection system, analysing the pandemic’s impact on human well-being and its effects on the security of homeless people.
Anastasiia considers housing and housing policy a key area of her research and advocacy work. Currently, she focuses on finding solutions to the housing crisis that Ukraine faced during the full-scale war. Anastasiia emphasises the importance of creating social housing, highlighting the problems of the rental sector, etc.
I have been working with Anastasiia for seven years, and during this time, I have often been convinced that she is a wonderful person and a professional whom I fully trust. With her experience in analysis and research, urban studies and management, communication and governance, she is the best candidate for the position of Director. I am confident that under Anastasiia’s leadership, Cedos will become better and stronger, and this will help us work more effectively and successfully to achieve the organisation’s mission of making Ukrainian society and our communities more just and sustainable.
Ivan Verbytskyi, Cedos Director (2019-2024), Cedos expert
As Director, Anastasiia plans to build and strengthen the Cedos team and increase the organisation’s international visibility.
Since the start of the full-scale war, we have all seen an increased focus on Ukraine and what is happening here. But sometimes, the voices of Ukrainian researchers, activists, and experts go unheard of in discussions about the present and the future. That is why producing local knowledge and empowering local voices is important. I would like as many people as possible, both in Ukraine and abroad, to learn about our research and other projects, so that Cedos can strengthen its position as a centre of knowledge production.
